I feel like I need to nap for five days.
I’ve just finished my final pass of my seventh novel, Reaping the Benefits before I pass it back to Bella Books to be proofed and typeset and made into a booky-looking thing. But we’re not done after that! Oh no, then I’ll proof it to check for those mistakes that make it past a zillion read-throughs and THEN you guys can have it. In May. So close. Ish.
I’ve had really mixed feelings about this novel and honestly, it’s only on this editing pass that I finally had the feeling of “Yeah, I really actually like this one.” I don’t think it’s a secret that I decided to step away from my usual first person gig and try something in third person, and I think I psyched myself right out of loving it because I was so focused on the discomfort of not being in my comfort zone. But, I got there in the end, and the only reason I think I got there was because I’ve had Wife and a bunch of awesome friends propping me up along the way with GIFS and cheering.
So, about that five-day nap? Yeah that’s not happening… It’s back to the frantic WIPs that I’m working on. Mhmm, you read that right. WIPs. The s means plural. I’m very ambitiously aiming to write a three-book series this year for release next year. Gurgle. If I can do it, it’s going to be amazing. If I can’t do it, well it’ll still be amazing, just late.
And I suppose it’s time to share my release plans for 2020. At this stage, Reaping the Benefits will be my only 2020 release. Long and boring story, but real life is in the way for the rest of the year and rather than try to push another book out just cos, I decided to focus on next year. We’ll see how everything pans out, but for now I don’t know for sure the whats and whens. But when I know what I’m doing, you guys will be among the first to know.
I’m excited for all of them, doesn’t matter when they’ll be done. I do wish one day you’d get your five-day nap though ??♀️
5 days of napping??? Wouldn’t that be more of a hibernation. Haha. I love what you write and it doesn’t matter how long it takes you, because people will wait. Your writing is really really good. It’s hard to find an author that writes so well that you are invested in the characters by the middle/end of chapter one. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world.
You are seriously going 3rd person just when I just have warmed up to 1st person? 🙂 I admit I have been a 3rd person snob since childhood, but your 1st person books, along with another author’s had me rethink my stance on 1st person narrative, because they were done well. I wish you and your family the best of luck in 2020 and I am sure your foray into 3rd person will be awesome! I look forward to reading it when it comes out.
Really looking forward to another of your books, hopefully narrated by Abby Craden!
Fingers crossed as well! You can always contact Audible to let them know your wishes 🙂
I’ve recently discovered your work!! So so happy!! I feel as though you write the way you speak…so many people try to use impressive words, but who actually talks like that?? I giggle at the humor and that makes me love your work!! Am I the only one that when I finished, GOLD, wanted to hear Kate’s side??? I honestly think there is an entire book that could be written to parallel along with Aspen’s story. They are two such deep characters and I want to understand Kate much more. Imagine going back to where Kate and her Ex Lisa broke up… then the planning of the trip to Threadbo… and Kate’s discussion with her friends about meeting Aspen. I really want to be in on the conversation that Kate had with Mel on the deck while Aspen was sitting in the den watching cartoons!! Am I crazy??? 🙂
I’ve thought about doing books from the other main character’s PoV but, oof…so many projects already!
Some day. Maybe… 🙂
Please do a sequel of Gold. There is so much I want to see as Aspen and Stacey make Olympic skiing a family affair. Please!
I love all ur stuff.. the last 2 weeks I didnt do anything else but reading ur books.. u r so effin talented it is almost worrisome.. haha.. and btw.. I love ur First person POV..
